“The children and the teachers very much enjoyed working with Sasha and learnt a huge amount; both about filmmaking and the skills required in order to work as a team to get the project completed to a high standard. Sasha had a fantastic relationship with the children and they loved working with her. The project was so successful, we are now embedding it into the whole school curriculum to enrich the learning experience.”

“This course was very successful and had a good turnout. Sasha was very approachable and simplified technical concepts. Participants were able to map out a concept for a short film with the support of Sasha. They learned a variety of skills and Sasha used various techniques. By the end participants had produced a film called ‘Everyday People’. This reflected many themes: mental health, the day centre, Camden and happiness. Once the group had edited this, the results were fantastic. We decided to show this at our annual staff barbeque, to which council commissioners were invited. We had great feedback from all those that attended.”

“Sasha clearly met our brief and was really efficient and easy to work with. The final film she produced tells the story of the project in an inspiring way and works as an excellent advocacy tool.”

“I think the best part of the day was going around with Sasha actually filming our scenes. I have learnt lots of skills such as taking risks with our scenes, I loved the day and am now confident with filming.”
Sam, Cleves School
“I enjoyed my day with Sasha a lot. It was very fun to film scenes for our movie and it was great to be acting in it! I had absolutely nothing wrong with the day and would like to do something like it in the future!”

“Sasha has been an inspirational team worker throughout the Thomas Knyvett Project. At times when others would have sunk, her determination to see success in all aspects of her work shone through. Eight wonderful films were premiered in September 2010 and I for one was extremely proud of the way the children had worked under her direction. Sasha leaves in her wake a sustainable legacy of creativity.”

“My opinion of the project is that it is really fun and interesting, going to different places and filming different things. Sasha is really nice and very helpful. I can’t wait to carry on the project.”

“As part of an ongoing Everybody Writes project with my Year 4 class, Sasha came in on several occasions to video the progress of the project. This involved interviewing me, some of my children, other members of staff, visitors and children, as well as taking footage of teaching and activities which were taking place throughout the day.
Sasha has been a pleasure to work with. She puts all people she interviews at their ease and makes the “unnatural” situation of being filmed a very unobtrusive and unintimidating process. Her filming techniques mean that she never interferes with the workings of the lesson and she makes everyone involved feel very comfortable. Sasha has a good, professional rapport with the children which means they are happy to be filmed and to be interviewed.”

“My class worked with Sasha to create a short film on ‘The Book Factor’, showing the children reviewing shortlisted books for the Roald Dahl funny prize award. Sasha spent the whole day with the class, helping them to edit their scripts, talking about how the film would be made and using the children to help record, for example holding the boom mic. The children absolutely loved the experience and learnt a great deal from the process of ideas to filming and editing. Sasha was extremely patient and warm with the children, who felt instantly comfortable with her. They are extremely proud of the film, which was incredibly well received. The children also felt the need to write to Sasha personally to thank her for her involvement. I could not recommend her enough for any future filmmaking, with children or otherwise. The film was absolutely brilliant, much better than I ever could have hoped for.”

“Thank you so much Sasha! We had the best time filming this and we would do it any time again! From one of the pupils in the Badgers’ Class.”
“Sasha has recently worked with Arvon on a project for under 18s called Writing the Game: from the Pitch to the Page. Her role was to film the young people reading to camera and to interview them as to their thoughts on the experience. Sasha impressed everyone with her laid-back, approachable manner and was easily accepted by the young people who had never been filmed before. She put them at ease and got some wonderful performances from them. I would gladly recommend her and look forward to working with her again shortly.”
